Mole Removal London

Safe, precise removal of moles, skin tags and benign lesions — no surgery, no general anaesthetic and minimal downtime.

Every lesion is clinically assessed by Dr Gregorio De Carvalho before any removal is carried out.

What is mole removal?

Mole removal is a minor clinical procedure that eliminates unwanted or potentially concerning moles, skin tags, warts, sebaceous cysts and other benign skin lesions. At Vitalumina, every lesion is examined by Dr Gregorio before any decision to treat — distinguishing benign lesions from those that require further assessment or biopsy.

Most removals are performed using radiofrequency ablation or shave excision under local anaesthetic. The procedure is fast, precise and leaves minimal scarring.

Skin tag removal and benign lesion treatment

Skin tags are among the most common reasons patients seek removal — they cause no medical concern but can be irritating, cosmetically unwanted or catch on clothing. Sebaceous cysts, milia and warts are also benign but can be confidently removed in a single session.

Dr Gregorio distinguishes between lesions that can be removed safely in-clinic and those that should first be assessed by a dermatologist. Patient safety comes first — removal is never performed without proper clinical evaluation of the lesion.

This kind of clinical judgement is exactly what separates a doctor-led approach from a purely cosmetic one — see our guide on what to look for in an aesthetic doctor.

How is mole removal performed? Step by step.

Every removal at Vitalumina follows a clear clinical process — from assessment to aftercare. No lesion is removed without being properly evaluated first.

Clinical Assessment

01
Dr Gregorio examines the lesion — assessing size, borders, colour, symmetry and any history of change. Benign lesions suitable for in-clinic removal are identified. Any lesion with atypical features is referred for dermatological assessment or biopsy before removal proceeds.

Local Anaesthetic

02
A small amount of local anaesthetic is injected around the lesion to completely numb the area. The procedure itself is painless once the anaesthetic has taken effect. For very small skin tags, topical anaesthetic cream alone may be sufficient.

Removal

03
The lesion is removed using the most appropriate technique — radiofrequency ablation, shave excision or punch excision. The method is chosen to achieve complete removal with the least tissue disruption and minimal scarring. Most procedures take 15–30 minutes.

Aftercare & Healing

04
A small dressing is applied immediately after. Dr Gregorio provides clear aftercare instructions — keeping the area clean and protected during healing. Most sites heal fully within 2–4 weeks. A follow-up can be arranged to confirm complete healing.

Types of lesions we remove.

Dr Gregorio removes a wide range of benign skin lesions in a single appointment. Every case is assessed individually — the technique chosen is specific to the lesion type, location and size.
01

Moles & Naevi

Benign pigmented moles that are cosmetically unwanted, in an awkward location or causing irritation. Every mole is assessed before removal — any showing atypical features is referred for dermatological review before treatment proceeds.
02

Skin Tags

Soft, fleshy tags of skin most commonly found on the neck, armpits, groin and eyelids. Entirely benign but frequently irritating or cosmetically unwanted. Usually removed quickly in a single appointment with minimal discomfort.
03

Sebaceous Cysts

Benign cysts beneath the skin caused by blocked sebaceous glands. Can become inflamed if left. Precise removal of the cyst and its capsule significantly reduces the risk of recurrence — a key advantage of clinical over non-surgical removal.
04

Warts & Verrucae

Viral skin growths caused by HPV. Common on hands, fingers and feet. Radiofrequency ablation is used depending on location and size. Resistant or recurrent warts may require more than one session.
05

Other Benign Lesions

Including milia, dermatofibromas, seborrhoeic keratoses and dilated blood vessels (telangiectasias). Dr Gregorio assesses each lesion individually and recommends the most appropriate removal technique.

Frequently asked questions about mole removal in London.

Mole removal at Vitalumina uses radiofrequency ablation or shave excision under local anaesthetic. The specific method depends on the type, size and depth of the lesion. Both techniques are precise and designed to minimise scarring. Most procedures take 15–30 minutes with no general anaesthesia.
Most benign lesions are completely removed in a single session. Larger or deeper lesions may require a brief follow-up. Warts with deep root systems can occasionally require 2 sessions. Dr Gregorio will advise during your consultation.
Not necessarily. Any lesion with irregular borders, uneven colour, recent changes in size or shape, or a history of bleeding should be assessed before removal. Dr Gregorio evaluates every lesion — if there is any clinical uncertainty, he will refer appropriately rather than proceed.
Minimal. Local anaesthetic numbs the area before removal — the procedure itself is largely painless. Some mild soreness, redness and crusting at the site is normal for the first few days. Most patients return to normal activities immediately.
Scarring depends on the size and depth of the lesion, the technique used and individual healing. Dr Gregorio chooses the method most likely to produce the neatest result. Most small lesions leave minimal or no visible mark. Larger excisions leave a fine linear scar that fades over 6–12 months.
Yes. Every lesion is clinically assessed before removal is performed. Moles with any atypical features are referred for dermatological review rather than immediately removed. All procedures use local anaesthetic and medical-grade equipment. Patient safety is always the first priority.
